Terry Chriswell

Terry ChriswellThe fact that I am writing this, and you are reading it, is a testament to how moving toward happy can change your life.

Following a painful divorce, I went on a practical and spiritual journey, to heal and change so that it would never happen again. I decided that I would follow my happiness, which led me to spend over 20 years trying to become the author I envisioned in my head. I felt blocked by many challenges: self-confidence, discipline, time, resistance, procrastination, and, as most writers feel, a doubt that my work would be of interest to anyone but my mother. Hi, Mom! (You know she's read this!)

Time and self-examination are truly the answers to most challenges. While I sometimes feel guilty that my personal growth has taken so long to get me here today, I also know that I had to go through every doubt, every high and all the in-between to be able to present Moving Toward Happy as a project I am proud of.

Moving Toward Happy was a book in progress for over 5 years (and "progress" is used lightly since most of those 5 years were spent finding excuses not to write) and finished in September 2018. After editing is complete sometime in 2019, it will be published by Balboa Press after winning First Runner Up in the Hay House Writing for Your Soul writer's contest in November 2013.

I am currently the publisher and owner of Mile High Natural Awakenings, a magazine focused on health, hope and happiness in Denver, Colorado. Natural Awakenings is a franchise with 70 publishers across the country, each tailoring their Natural Awakenings with a combination of local and national news, articles and advertising that suits their market. Mile High Natural Awakenings is for sale as of this writing, so that I can move on to fulfill the dreams of my heart.

I am also an animal lover, and on the Board of Directors for Misha May Foundation Dog Training and Rescue Support, a non-profit educational organization that helps people better understand their dogs with positive reward-based training. I have rescued and fostered 2 dogs with my husband Doug; both have been placed in happy, loving, forever homes. I look forward to the day when I can have a bunch of dogs and horses, roaming on a mountain property that I've dreamed of for well over 20 years.

I can tell you this for sure: Moving Toward Happy is not just a book; it's a lifestyle, a state of mind & being; a journey and a destination. The ideas presented in Moving Toward Happy been the fulcrum on which I have found my balance over and over and over again, when I forget I have 53 years of skills, love, support, encouragement and experience - in other words, I forget who I am. I hope it will help you in the same way.

I'm working on other projects too, and I'm finally in a place where my creativity can flow more readily, now that I'm almost complete with Moving Toward Happy. This is the one baby I've given birth to, and I look forward to taking you with me on my journey to many more fruitful and rewarding projects.
